This season already comes with a lot of decisions.
Your newborn session doesn’t have to feel complicated.
Most families reach out during the second or third trimester to reserve space around their due date.
Once baby arrives, we’ll finalize the exact session timing based on recovery, feeding, and what feels best for your family. Most newborn sessions take place within the first two weeks, but flexibility is always built into the process.
Nothing about this has to feel rigid or stressful.
Here’s how the process works from inquiry through session day.

Where We’ll Photograph Your Session
Most newborn sessions take place at my primary studio space at Loft Haven Farm in Owings, MD where I have full access to newborn props, wraps, styling pieces, and multiple studio setups designed specifically for newborn photography.
I also continue to offer select sessions at my Annapolis studio during limited weekday availability. This was previously my full-time Annapolis studio space and now continues to operate as a creative rental studio, allowing it to remain a familiar home-away-from-home space for many of my clients.
For families wanting a more relaxed documentary feel, lifestyle newborn sessions are also available in your home or another meaningful location.
Because each location is set up a little differently, some session types, styling options, and setup availability may vary depending on where your session takes place.
Main Studio - Flexible Days
Loft Haven Farm is my primary newborn studio location in Northern Calvert County and offers the widest range of newborn styling, props, wraps, and setup options.
This location includes access to:
two indoor studio spaces
curated newborn props and styling
maternity gown collection
greenhouse and outdoor spaces
the most flexibility for scheduling and session types
Most full newborn sessions take place here because everything is already designed around baby comfort, flexibility, and variety.
Annapolis Studio | Weekdays Only
The Annapolis studio offers a more simplified and curated studio experience with select newborn setups and styling options.
This location works beautifully for:
maternity sessions
milestone sessions
family portraits
simplified newborn sessions
Because this is no longer my primary newborn prop studio, larger newborn setups and some session types may only be available in Owings. Annapolis availability is primarily offered on weekdays.
Baby is here… Now what?
Once baby is here, let your VIPs know… then give me a shout.
At that point, I’ll send over available session dates and we’ll choose a time that works best for everyone.
Arrival times at the main studio in Owings have a bit of built-in flexibility. If we pencil you in for 10am and you need a few extra minutes getting out the door, that’s completely okay and won’t shorten your session.
The goal is to keep this experience feeling calm and low stress for your family.
Arrival times at the Annapolis studio are more firm due to shared studio scheduling and rentals that may take place after your session.
A few helpful notes
There’s no need to overpack for your session. I’ll refer back to the styling questionnaire you already filled out and will have the wraps, props, and setup pieces ready when you arrive.
Beyond baby, a way to feed them, and a few extra diapers, I’ll take care of the rest. If there are any sentimental items you’d like included like a special blanket, heirloom piece, or even wedding rings for detail photos, feel free to bring them along, but nothing extra is required.
The experience doesn’t end when the session does.
Your images will be carefully edited and delivered through a private online gallery within approximately two weeks of your session.
From there, you’ll be able to download your images, share them with family and friends, and order professional-quality prints directly through your gallery. You’ll also have full flexibility to print wherever you’d like using your included print release.
If you choose to print elsewhere, I typically recommend Nations Photo Lab, Mpix, or Artifact Uprising for quality and color consistency.
I always recommend downloading your full gallery and saving your images in multiple places, including at least one cloud-based backup location. Technology changes quickly and these images are far too important to risk losing.
Photos aren’t meant to just live on your phone. Whether you create albums, hang framed prints in your home, or pull these images back out years from now, the goal is for these images to become part of your family’s story long after this season passes.
This is a lot of information to take in and I promise you won’t be tested on any of it.
Over the years, I’ve found that conversations are often the most helpful part of the planning process, but I also wanted my clients to have a place they could come back to as a resource and little cheat sheet throughout the experience.
If talking things through feels easier, I’m always happy to schedule a phone call and walk through everything together.
